Does anyone have a Home Beta account they would like to sell? If so please contact me at likebombs@gmail.com!?
Even if you did get, Sony would just ban u from it or suspend both accounts. Just download the Home Theme from the store, that shows Sony that u want to participate in their Beta. They'll be sending invites within the next 10 days.
Why after switching to beta i can now not access yahoo, hotmail, gmail etc? what have they done to my computer
no virus found, no spyware found, can't access with firefox or MS internet explorer. i can access yahoo messenger and other web pages but just can't get e-mail. I'm using a friend's computer to send this. hope someone can help - oh yes i got there once directly from messenger but it couldn't display any messages saying XLM was missing (!?!?)
Why after switching to beta i can now not access yahoo, hotmail, gmail etc? what have they done to my computer
That shoudl not have caused any errors. The Yahoo! Mail Beta is just a web application. You may want to try and clear your cookies and cash and then reboot you computer.

Now...Who agrees Yahoo! Mail Beta is an almost copy of GMail?
except for the layout..which is more similar to Rediff Mail...
now they've brought up the chat as well.. just like GMail...
How long is Yahoo! gonna live by copying others?
Now...Who agrees Yahoo! Mail Beta is an almost copy of GMail?
Yeah it's quite similar. They brought up the chat function aswel...
Microsoft just keeps on copying other projects, they know only that... They've done that all their life.
GMail actually pwns Yahoo Mail Beta at :
- Less resource consuming
- Original
- It was only by invitation available
- Lots of space
- Ease of use
Reply:i second the motion! heheheehhe

HELP! Beta mail not working. Original work and gmail works fine. Gives this error:?
First, switch to Original Yahoo! Mail with the "Trouble logging in?" or "Switch Back", or "trouble logging in to BETA mail" splash screen alternatives...
If you log into yahoo beta with a different yahoo email address on same computer, the beta works. Also If you log on to a different computer somewhere else, it works too. So it seems the fault is ONLY attached to ONE email account on one SPECIFIC computer problem... To "repair" the "error" attached to this only one unique computer that you have, simply... Switch your content preference to a different region. If you live in the U.K., try the U.S. version, or the U.S. version if you live in the U.K...
How to change your content preference:
* log in to Yahoo Mail
* click Options
* select Account information from the left panel
* go to Member Information, General Preferences, Preferred Content
* select, for example, Yahoo UK
* click Finished
* go to Yahoo Mail
* you'll see a page that says "It's the New Yahoo! Mail Beta... and you're invited."
* click on "Try Beta Now".

If you elected to switch to the upgraded "All-New Mail", and don't like it, and want to return to Classic---then click this link---and click "yes" to opt out of the New Mail.

How can i change my email at blogger beta, i really confuse about this.FYI i used gmail and i want to change?
Sounds Technical. Good Luck....
Will Gmail ever move off of beta?
it'll be three years come april... haven't we tested it enough?
Will Gmail ever move off of beta?
all the google products other than search r just for namesake
they release a product in beta and whenever someone points out that there is a flaw they say
"Thank You for helping us in improving our product in the beta stage".
nice way to slip off by telling that their product is in BETA stage
Reply:I am not sure what they even mean by beta... it has all the advanced functionality you could want, and is constantly updating itself. Since Gmail is unlikely to stop evolving, as that is Google's greatest strength, it is highly unlikely to ever come out of the beta stage, as it will never be a finished product.

Is Yahoo Beta Mail better than Gmail?
"Yahoo's new email program would blow Gmail away if it were widely released today. That's partly due to its features, but also to its respect for user choice."
That quote is from The Wall Street Journal's Walt Mossberg, (the highly respected Personal Technology columnist), and can be read in full at the link below.
Software choices are often personal and reflect your individual work style, but Mr Mossberg makes some very compelling points in his review.
Is Yahoo Beta Mail better than Gmail?
It is completely differet from GMail. You cant compare both
Reply:i have been on yahoo for a long time and i love it.
Reply:If Yahoo! Mail had free POP/SMTP access it would be the best service.
Since Yahoo! don't provide those two services... I just have to keep my Gmail address as my default...
Reply:I think it is. I tried GMail, but I would never use it full-time.

Which is much better, the Yahoo! Beta or the Gmail?
Please explain and may the best answer wins!
Which is much better, the Yahoo! Beta or the Gmail?
My answer in a word: Gmail. Now for some explanation.
Prior to Yahoo beta (and especially before Yahoo improved their message search functionality), I preferred gmail so much that Yahoo irritated me with its shortcomings. However, Yahoo did have these advantages (to me) over gmail: one-click sort of message list; a more intuitive advanced search screen (which seems to be gone from the beta); Comic Sans as one of their font options (which also seems to be gone from the beta); less spam; the ability to use a true alias (or even more aliases by buying the Plus version) for the same mailbox; quickly (about 2 clicks) change the view to see only the unread messages.
I still prefer gmail overall, for its:
Faster screen changes.
Display of all messages within a thread (this has been a real timesaver for me).
Efficient, smart handling of drafts.
POP3 access (very helpful when I used a dialup connection).
Forwarding.
Display of a msg's initial text w/o opening the message.
Display of a correspondent's full email address (in a pop-up similar to Microsoft's "tool tips" or "screen tips"), w/o opening the message, by hovering the mouse over their name.
Display of an attachment's name w/o opening the message, by hovering the mouse over the paper-clip.
Display of a msg's full date %26amp; time by hovering the mouse over the abbreviated date stamp in the message list.
Displays whether or not the msg that I'm composing has unsaved changes, and when it was last saved.
Ability to send a followup to the same person(s) to whom I just sent a message--even before I get a reply--by clicking on Reply, or Reply to all, and the system is smart enough not to include me as an addressee.
Incorporation of the Reply/Fwd screen within the message-thread screen.
Display of photo thumbnails in incoming messages.
Display of msg size.
Sophisticated advanced search options.
Unlimited quasi-aliases.
Unobtrusive ads.
However, Yahoo beta is still a huge improvement over the standard (%26amp; soon to be "previous," I assume) version. Good points not mentioned in 2nd paragraph include:
Uses a GUI that's familiar to users of very popular mail clients.
Faster use of features.
Very good tabbed interface, which I'm beginning to prefer to using separate windows.
Leapfrogged over gmail in that its Compose screen now remembers the last typeface and font size that we used; however, it still doesn't save other font characteristics (I'd like it to remember the color).
Caught up to gmail with ability to use Ctrl-B, Ctrl-I, %26amp; Ctrl-U (for bold, Italic, %26amp; underline); they also inched ahead of gmail with automatic full-word application of those formatting commands (gmail requires you to select the full word manually)
Caught up to gmail with Ctrl-S for Save, Ctrl-Z for Undo %26amp; Ctrl-Y for Re-do.
Edged out gmail with Ctrl-Enter for Send, which Outlook also uses. Gmail says to use %26lt;tab%26gt; then %26lt;Enter%26gt;; however that makes assumptions about the location of your cursor or screen "focus" for that key-combination to work.
Also edged out gmail with use of arrow keys (I prefer them to the optional keyboard shortcut commands that gmail offers) for navigating among messages, and with use of Delete key.
Drag-%26amp;-drop filing. (However, I've now learned to love gmail's suggestion and no longer file mail in either gmail or Yahoo.)
Can scroll through my whole Inbox w/o changing Web pages.
Can select %26amp; move/delete a huge # of msgs at once.
Better display of foreign-language characters.
Some priority work for Yahoo beta would seem to include restoration of the good features that it lost (see my 2nd paragraph), and improvement of compatibility with Firefox, with which its reading pane doesn't always work. I really dislike Yahoo's handling of Drafts in that a saved draft may stay in the Drafts folder even after I send the message. No doubt, some people love that feature, but for me it's only a nuisance to have to delete it manually.

i have a slow internet connection and Gmail loads faster for me and all the attachment showed up. i don't know why, but Yahoo's attachments (images) rarely showed up for me (especially the one that's been attached on the page, not as attachments you could download). i've tried to forward the same e-mail from Yahoo to Gmail and the attachments were all appeared in Gmail but not in Yahoo.

Is the new yahoo mail (beta) better than gmail?
I've had extensive experience using both gmail (several accounts for over a year) and Yahoo Mail Beta and can tell you absolutely that Yahoo Mail Beta is by far better than gmail.
It's not just my opinion but a general consensus by tech writers all over the web. I don't like gmail for many reasons and have found Yahoo Mail to be much more convenient, straightforward and easier to use and that's even before the new Yahoo Mail upgrade.
There are many things about gmail that is oddball, strange and quirky, a feeling shared by people all over the web. Gmail is considered to be a flop never having lived up to its hype. There are things about gmail that I really, really hate that I just can't get used to, many aspects of which are downright annoying even infuriating.
If I had a choice I'd pick Yahoo Mail (non-beta) hands down. Yahoo Mail Beta has received very positive reviews including one very glowing article
in the Wall Street Journal recently.

I have been using hotmail and yahoo for the last 6 years...

I would advise against using Hotmail.
Reply:Beta software is a program that hast reached its final stage of development. Beta software is often offered to the public to use, for the program designers to get feedback on issues with the software so they can fix it......Often beta software has bugs that can cause issues with your computer, this software is usually recommended for the more savvy user......and not recommended for the typical user, as it can cause problems with your PC......
Reply:Beta products like that may stay BETA for awhile until one they feel that the service is ready or if they ever to decide to make it a pay version. GMAIL your best bet .... Google aint going anywhere for a long time
Reply:Yahoo Mail Beta doesn't support all browsers for now (it's because it's using Web 2.0 standard which not all browsers adapted to yet... Konqueror is one of them for example). It has minor bugs but from the looks of things they will release the final version pretty soon.
Hotmail Beta, also named Live Mail is available only in some countries and support only IE for now.. It received bad reviews so I won't encourage you to use it.. I've seen the reviews but never had the chance of using it though..
Google Mail is simple but it does the job and it's very fast! You can even communicate directly with your online contacts which are using gmail also... No need for IM.
Reply:as far as i know, "beta" is a trial version of an update that they are trying to make.
for the yahoo, you could switch back to the original if you don't like it

Why all google products in BETA for years,eg:gmail, google local, froogle, google suggest..end less list?
Mostly because google likes to think of themselves as ever-changing, and nothing is fully done?... That or they want to be able to fall back on the whole "it isn't a finished project, it's only in beta" line...
Why all google products in BETA for years,eg:gmail, google local, froogle, google suggest..end less list?
Lack of focus. Sometimes I think Google thinks they are some kind of university instead of a business.

When will gmail get off of beta testing?
They seem to have put Beta into the mail service name permanently :) while there has been a lot of speculation about when this will be removed, there seems to be no end to it.
No one knows for sure .
However, that should not stop someone from getting an account invite. They have allowed every user to invite 100 ppl onto gmail, so the invites are freely available.
They seem to be adding a lot of features into it regularly like auto-responder, multiple language support, RSS etc.
When will gmail get off of beta testing?
It isn't in beta anymore, they just don't let anyone sign up with a new account so that their servers don't get flooded with tons of people trying to create new accounts. You can still sign up with an account through invitation or your mobile phone.

Isn't it about time for Google's GMail go leave the "beta" stage?
It's amusing to me that I've been using GMail for well over a year but they're still calling it "GMail Beta."
Isn't it about time for Google's GMail go leave the "beta" stage?
Yes, and i think it's also time for all of Google's other services to leave the beta stage.
Reply:Yes your right, i noticed the "beta" the other day and i didnt understand haha. its been around for ages.

What is Gmail? I'm on Yahoo Beta...is this the old version?
I received a response to use gmail.... What is gmail? I also received a response re: firewall . . . how do I check Yahoo's firewall. I work out of my home and the email and attachments come through, I just can't always open them. On one email, I got the attachment opened, viewed it then saved to an email folder. When I went back to the same email, I couldn't get it opened. I don't believe the firewall is the issue or I wouldn't even get the email or attachment in the first place--but thanks.

Never heard of. Be careful with these unsolicited offers. Most of them are spams. You could seriously destroy your pc configuration.
All the best!/

Reply:Gmail is google mail. If you go too www.google.com and type in gmail in the search box, you will see 'Welcome to Gmail'. If you click on that, it will take you to the 'sign in' page. Then, look for the box that says 'About Gmail'. They will be able to tell you the rest. Now, about the firewall, I don't know. But, as a Gmail, user, this is what I know. For me, Gmail is a good emailing source.
I hope this helps a little.

Whats the best email out of these?? (gmail, yahoo, yahoo beta, hotmail)?
i need to know because i need to pick 1 of these and use it and please give me detailed answers thanx
Whats the best email out of these?? (gmail, yahoo, yahoo beta, hotmail)?
I find that yahoo is the best. Hotmail too often upgrades and it can be confusing at times, yahoo beta i sth same way. gmail confuses me 100% of the time, so I never really use it.
Reply:I've had regular Yahoo email for years, I think it's the best. I tried the Yahoo Beta and didn't like it, to many quirks in it at the time, about 4 months ago.
I also have a Hotmail account. Have had that for years also. I use this for receiving replies that I think may end up with a lot of spam attached.
I also have an email account through the www.care2.com web site. I use this for most of my personal correspondence because their sponsors make contributions to different orginaztions for each email I post. It's a neat site, check it out.
Hope this helps.
Reply:Gmail and it can be used in mozilla thunderbird, outlook, office outlook

How do I export contacts from Yahoo beta to gmail.?
Wizard only offers export of favourites or cookies and I want to export contacts.
How do I export contacts from Yahoo beta to gmail.?
No email program imports the Yahoo Mail address book. This might be due that the address book is actually stored on the Yahoo Mail server.

Why is gmail constantly in beta?
Excluding search, everything from Google is beta! Although the "beta" label carries a certain amount of "web 2.0 cool" thesedays...
Why is gmail constantly in beta?
I think this is just for legal purposes. As long as they call it "beta", nobody can complain if they add or remove features from it.
Reply:So when it screws up, they can say "Sorry, we're still in the beta testing stage and can't be held responsible for you not getting email for a week."
Reply:because they are still working on it's enhancement and it's still under dovelopment , and it may have some bugs ,tha's y it's still in beta stage
When the final version will be out ,u can assume it not to have any bugs which it may have at the moment , and bugs can only be seen by using it so it's running in beta stage
Reply:Gmail has been in beta for quite a while. In its early days they made quite a few changes to it. I have not seen any changes in quite a while. I would recommend contacting google to see what they have to say.

Yahoo! mail beta or gmail?
yahoo has unlimited storage and chat and gmail has 2.8 gb chat and threading... which is the way to go, what do u prefer? most detailed gets 10 points
Yahoo! mail beta or gmail?
Gmail is best because 2.8 gigabytes is enough storage anyway, you're unlikely to go over that, and because its soooo fast since there are only text ads. I've also heard things about yahoo mail beta having problems, but im not sure if this is true.
Reply:I tried yahoo but the accessing is very slow.... and it is not supporting all the features.......... I do have gmail which is user friendly and fast accessing.

Yahho mail beta or gmail?
I have both and I prefer Yahoo, and esp. not b/c this is a Yahoo message board.
I don't use the beta of Yahoo Mail b/c I don't need any fluff when I'm reading/writing e-mails; I want it simple, clean, and organized. I find Gmail very unorganized compared to Yahoo mail--I don't like the whole "label" thing over traditional folders. Granted, I know Google has a more efficient form of categorization; I think Yahoo has a better idea for the avg. user. In other words, sometimes the latest/greatest isn't really the best.
I give my Gmail e-mail address to ppl I don't know very well (classmates, mostly) and have it fwd a copy to my Yahoo account. While I have a junk e-mail address (thru Address Guard) through Yahoo, I like a Gmail address that matches my Yahoo address.
The only other thing that I love on my Yahoo account is that I can block any address/domain I want; Gmail requires me to set up a filter and have it dump in the Trash folder. I don't want to even go that far.... I just want to block a specific address and never even have to look at it again.
Gmail will copy any e-mail sent through it's SMTP server into the webmail Sent folder--I wish Yahoo did this... :-(
Granted, ppl rave about Gmail and how great it is (and it is!), I just don't see a halo around it and find it very mediocre compared to Yahoo.
I sent/receive at least a dozen e-mails a day and after using both, I appreciate the setup Yahoo uses much better than Gmail.
Reply:I think yahoo mail is the best because it has easy to use directions and cool animated inbox and outbox.
Well G-mail is a close second but it can't match up to yahoo. Plus G-mail doesn't have Yahoo Answers and you couldn't be asking this question without it :D

Why Is Gmail Still In Beta?
They're still working out the quirks.
For example, sometimes while I'm beginning to type an e-mail, after a few words, it will automatically save my draft. For some reason, the cursor is no longer in the text box! I have to click inside the box again and retype a word or two.

Google has a tendency to keep their new products in BETA for a loooong time.

Why is GMAIL always under Beta status?
Why? It is much more bug free than Microsoft's Hotmail.
thanks
Why is GMAIL always under Beta status?
Cause they are always changing things.
Reply:By leaving it in "Beta" status, they don't need to present it as a working, or complete, project and therefore customer's can't expect perfection.

Why gmail still in beta version?
Its been years since google email with ajax technology been launched. But I still wonder why until now its still on beta version. What is google purposes actually? Is it because of marketing strategies or what?
Why gmail still in beta version?
it's a beta because it's not 100% perfect. 95% perfect is not good enough for them.
Yahoo, unfortunately believes it can inflict a beta on us that has many many bugs, and keeps their code in beta when many people would barely consider it ALPHA test quality.
I'd rather run a beta that works than a released product that does not! Gmail works!
Reply:Yeah, it's still beta and it's got millions of users and no invites are even needed anymore, it's a bit ridiculous, ur right.
Reply:Probably because they don't want to offer it to the entire planet. By keeping in beta version they limit the use until they come up with a way to make it pay.
Reply:Bcoz still in experimental phase still there are many buggs in gmail. So let google clear them. Dont wory nothing will happen to your emails and chats

Or does Beta in Gmail not really mean what it generally means. Maybe it's their way of saying Gmail is in constant development.

Why is gmail still in beta? is there a specific milestone to get out of beta for any software/service?
BETa is the comsumer trial stage of software testing. it gives the developer a chance to see how the software functions and allows the consumer to test and supply feedback. this stage is important because the consumer will use the software as they deem necessary which may not be a way the software company intended. so several bugs will come out it allows the manufactuer to tweak the software b4 a final version is released. and best of all for the manufactuer you the consumer using the trial version do all this testing reporting and suggestion making FOR FREE
Why is gmail still in beta? is there a specific milestone to get out of beta for any software/service?
Beta is a testing stage before giving out the full product for customers !!
As long as google is not fully satisfied with gmail tests and its application development ....gmail BETA will continue .....
it is one of best excuse to capture the internet market !!!

What do you prefer better Yahoo Mail Beta or Gmail?
funny thing u ask that... i was about to ask the same thing.
yahoo and google are both great services, but in the end, I'd have to go with yahoo mail. it has a drag and drop functionality, and is in the process of integrating chat (which i see more people use yahoo messenger than google talk), and UNLIMITED storage, which you will get within the next few days, weeks or months. you also get to read rss feeds in the mail instead of opening a new window, which is also nice. something that may sway your final decision though, is being able to read your in emails in POP3 (outlook, thunderbird etc.). yahoo charges for this service, while gmail is currently giving free POP3 access to all users. Both webmail providers have a very strong search tool for emails, but believe it or not, yahoo's is actually better than gmail's. It not only searches quickly and efficiently, but even searches through documents . Also, unless you get the add on for Firefox, download an entire messaging program (yahoo messenger), get alerts and charged for them on your phone, or download a bulky and large toolbar (which isn't a great notifier either), there is no way to know when you have new emails with yahoo, unless u refresh the page every second. gmail provides you with a small and simple tool that not only notifies you when u have new emails, but even lets u see who the email is from and also a little snippet of the email. Yahoo has no good way of notifying you on the spot, which i dislike. Gmail also loads the page a few seconds faster then Yahoo, but Yahoo is fixing this problem, and it will be as fast a gmail soon
In respect to another factor, is what you get with your account. sure, the email part is great, but is that all? with yahoo, you can use your account to create free fantasy sports teams, and yahoo gives you many more things to do with your account than gmail currently does.
In conclusion, yahoo is the way to go. It is starting to accelerate past all other webmail providers, coming up with new, intuitive ideas each and every day.
What do you prefer better Yahoo Mail Beta or Gmail?
With all the problems with this Beta Yahoo is going to lose a lot of users. If you don't have a POP or fowarding set up you are pretty much stuffed. Report Abuse

Why is Gmail still in the beta even though it has been out for over 4 years?
So when someone finds a huge problem they can just say "oh its beta software" instead of releasing a professional product like the rest of the world. It's an advertising/image thing.
Is google chrome gunna be permanently beta like gmail?
Nothing is permanently beta but it just takes a lot of time to improve.
They probably will spend a year or something on it but believe me google chrome needs A LOT of improvement.

What is beta(eg gmail, yahoo beta) and why it doesnt work?
Beta means not fully completed product or website.
It's test version.
They want to get feedback from users.

Why does Gmail STILL have the "beta" word under their logo, been there forever, but why?
Because they keep updating it with more awesomeness.

Why is Gmail still beta?
I mean everything is ok and nice. It's accesable on mobiles, it's safe and secure, nice choosable themes,...
Why is it then still beta?
Why is Gmail still beta?
beta means that they are testing it and there is probably still problems and gliches
Reply:It hasn't worked on my mobile for at least a year. Maybe I should try it again. They have lots of new stuff that you can test out.

Does Google have any benefit in maintaining Gmail as a "Beta" application?
For example, if a Gmail user loses their data because of a glitch in the application, can Google lean back on the "Hey, its only a Beta application, sorry!" excuse?
Does Google have any benefit in maintaining Gmail as a "Beta" application?
As you noted yourself, I guess that's a great excuse for them. they can always say its still in tester mode so that you can't blame them. but i doubt that will work for long.

How do people with experience of using Gmail and Yahoo! mail beta find they compare?
It seems likely that one day i will have to move from my regular yahoo! mail to one of the newer ones, and they're probably more user friendly anyway, the question is which is best? If i go with Yahoo! mail beta would I have to change my email address and so reregister/update my details with the hundreds of websites i've registered with over the years, not to mention friends, work colleagues etc.?
It would be great to hear from people who have experience with both yahoo! beta and Gmail...thanks!
How do people with experience of using Gmail and Yahoo! mail beta find they compare?
I use both Yahoo Mail beta and Gmail and I have to admit I like Yahoo better. And before I continue, I'll say that you do not need to re-register or change your email address. I switch between the beta and regular versions depending on whose computer I'm on, or what browser is being used.
I like Yahoo's nicer, "sleeker" interface, as well as its drag-and-drop message organization sytem. Its message preview pane as well as the tabs are definitely improvements from the regular version. The only problem I have is that it's slow. It takes forever if I have to use a dial-up connection, but even on DSL or cable it takes a bit longer than one would like. Nevertheless I prefer Yahoo Mail beta over Gmail. Note that this bias may also be due to the fact that I primarily use Yahoo for my primary email. (I just don't like having to keep track of three emails).
Gmail, on the other hand, isn't as visually attractive as Yahoo, but from my experience it functions as a great, down-to-the-point email system. I'm not a fan of its message organization system, but it's good for when you don't care about having one folders and just want to search, or like messages/replies to be organized based on the original messages. And if you get a LOT of mail, or don't like to delete messages, the 2.7 GB limit is pretty nice. (Personally though, I don't need all that space. My Yahoo mail account is only 3% full!)
So if you need a very large inbox and like new innovative organizational features, Gmail could be for you. But if you like the simple folder approach with drag-and-drop functionality, and don't mind the 1GB inbox, Yahoo Mail beta may be for you. Note that currently Gmail requires invitations into the system and Yahoo Mail beta seems to randomly select new participants into the beta program.
Reply:Hello there !! It seems to me you have a long time experience on the Internet. I think you should know that if you switch over to a new or Beta-Program of the same kind, such as G-mail or in this case Yahoo!, You don't have to change a thing!! Your Account,Settings,Addresses,Favorites,Con... so on. Will be taken over automatically!!! And of course you don't have to change your E-mail addresses, they'll all stay the same!! So you do not have to tell your Internet-Connections!!
You really didn't knew about all of this??

Oh, and in response to how it compares to Gmail... I use both personally, but I like Yahoo!'s new interface better. Click and drag is just too cool for e-mail! Though Gmail offers 2.7 GB and counting and (as you can see from my screenshots) I'm nearing Yahoo!'s limit. It really depends on who you are and what you need to accomplish, but personally the new Yahoo! Mail will fit my needs amply.
Hope that helps!

Why is the Gmail service beta, is it a good idea to completely change to gmail?
gmail is beta because they still develop and test it. beta means that there are no guaranties about it, but doesn't mean that there are errors.
i am using gmail for some time and i hadn't problems with it.
i strongly recommend it (although i still have my yahoo address for old friends who still email me there)
good luck

Still in testing mode most probably
I like Gmail.. all my spam goes to the spam box s no problem there..
Reply:I have a gmail account. I like it, but i still use yahoo as the main email program. It`s beta because it`s still being tested. I like it, and had no problems with it. I like it because it offers a large variety of services (like automatic mail forwarding, mobile access, POP3 etc.) for free. You can get an account only by invitation. So all in all I like it, but won`t switch 100% `cause it`s still beta, even though it works fine.
Reply:no gmail sucks
theres no spam filter so thats all u get.
Reply:While I suppose you can say there's no "smart" spam filter, Gmail does a good job of initially filtering out the junk emails.
I've been using Gmail for about a year, and use it as my primary email (purchasing online, communication, etc.) and I love it. Ans yes, while it's still in Beta and has the possibility of malfunctioning, it's been doing pretty well so far, and probably will in the future.
Reply:think before completely moving to gmail as i have experianced issues while downloading mails using POP3. Many times it didnt work. Problem is sevior for dialup users. Always keep a second mail id.

Why does Gmail always say Beta under it?
Isn't it time to remove the beta?
Why does Gmail always say Beta under it?
always improving something, thats why google is the brand to beat, when it comes to revenues...theyre the top search engine around, yahoos right up there though
new features, more customer satisfaction...or who knows they could be lazy as hell and not want to fix their site
Reply:A software application of any kind is only out of Beta when the developers decide so.
Reply:google is gay, but it's better than yahoo
Reply:It will stay like that for about a year. The same thing with MSN when it upgraded and asked for users to switch over to beta. After just over a year and they got all the bugs out they released it to everyone.

When I click on "Compose Mail" in Gmail beta, how do I choose from my address list?
I'm in Gmail. I hit the Compose Email button. Now I have a blank email "form". How do I select from my address list already on file?

Why is Gmail ... "beta"? Are they ever going to launch a 'real' version? What gives?
Well BETA does mean the real thing but just a sample.
Gmail hasn't started too long ago its just been a while since they released gmail.
Even though Don't worry Gmail beta still has all the features you need.
Oh yeah About releasing a new version probably yes but not soon.

Most stuff from Google is in beta, its just an excuse if someone mail em an say "hey this stuff dont work" than they can reply with" because its in beta duh"

How long is Gmail going to say in beta?
Gmail has been in beta for years now, is it going to come out or are they going to keep it like that so that if any bugs pop up they can still claim its in beta.
How long is Gmail going to say in beta?
The beta is a Web 2.0 (buzzword alert!) design paradigm which means that Google is constantly coming out with new features for Gmail (through Google Labs). So in a sense, there is always work-in-progress on the back-end side and hence the perpetual beta.
I do not think that Google is ever going to remove the beta tag because they will always have something to improve upon. The day they remove the tag will be the day they will stop working on Gmail altogether. :)
