Gmail has been in beta for years now, is it going to come out or are they going to keep it like that so that if any bugs pop up they can still claim its in beta.
How long is Gmail going to say in beta?
The beta is a Web 2.0 (buzzword alert!) design paradigm which means that Google is constantly coming out with new features for Gmail (through Google Labs). So in a sense, there is always work-in-progress on the back-end side and hence the perpetual beta.
I do not think that Google is ever going to remove the beta tag because they will always have something to improve upon. The day they remove the tag will be the day they will stop working on Gmail altogether. :)
